My meeting with Osiris
In January 2019, I took a journey to the ancient village of Abydos.
Abydos is a small town in the Egyptian countryside close to Luxor.
For thousands of years, the best way to get to Abydos was to take a boat on the Nile River.
Instead, I chose to take a flight with “Egypt Air” from Cairo to Sohag airport (built in 2005), which is a short drive away from the ancient village.
I arranged to have a van from the hotel pick me up at the airport.
At baggage claim in the little airport in the countryside, I stuck out like a sore thumb with my long hair, black-brimmed hat, and western clothing.
Everyone else there wore the traditional Egyptian body-length dresses of varying pattern and muted colors.
Outside the airport on the road, a group of taxi drivers were trying to get customers, and one of them called out my name.
The man was my tour guide from the Hotel in Abydos.
He introduced himself as Adam, and led me to the hotel van in the parking lot.
There, I met our driver whose name escapes me.
We began driving south on a highway that cut through desert, farmland, and date palm plantations.
While we were driving towards Abydos, Adam was telling me, in perfect English, about sites we could go visit in the area.
We had a pleasant conversation, and soon arrived at the Hotel.
In Abydos, which is a tiny, rural village, there is one incredible hotel: The House of Life.
There is a swimming pool, a lovely restaurant, and a hookah/coffee bar at the House of Life, giving it a modern and western atmosphere.
Upon arrival, I checked in, went to my room, and fell asleep.
I was utterly exhausted from my long travels.
Later that night, I met the guardian of the hotel: Mr. Horus.
Mr. Horus is a fascinating man, and we had an interesting conversation that first night at the hotel.
We agreed to talk more after I had rested.
I stayed at the hotel for a few days, resting, swimming, lounging, reading, meditating, and preparing my energy before visiting the temple of Seti the 1st and the Osirion.
I ate incredible vegetarian food at the hotel restaurant: Egyptian Beans, fresh hummus, steamed vegetables, fried potatoes, falafels, and more.
Every day, I walked by the large statue of the ancient goddess Isis and gazed upon her through the windows at the restaurant.
The House of Life took good care of me.
I visited the Temple of Seti after a few days of meditation and rest.
I had visited the temple the year before with a large group of people.
On this visit, I was intuitively drawn to a particular room in the temple: The chapel of Thoth.
I was visiting with Adam, my friend from the hotel, and we walked past the ancient painted scenes and columns to the small room in the central part of the temple.
In the chapel dedicated to Thoth, Adam and I stood and looked at the ancient imagery.
We were silent, and after a few moments, I began to see a faint purple light emanating from a carved image of the young prince Ramses the 2nd.
We felt a strange, mystical energy at this point, and I smiled brightly as Adam made a curious expression.
The wave of strangeness left as quickly as it came, and we continued our visit of the amazing building.
We eventually found our way to the back door and eventually to the Osirion temple.
Adam and I looked at the mysterious, megalithic temple and conversed for a while about its construction and history.
The Sun was slowly moving towards the western horizon, and the view of the cliff sides and the sand ramp was so beautiful.
A few days later, in the morning, I was meditating in my room at the Hotel, when I intuitively received guidance that I should eat lightly and prepare myself for a mysterious experience I would have later that day.
I followed the guidance, and abstained from my usual breakfast of hard-boiled eggs, fried potatoes, and beans, instead having some fruit.
I relaxed on a lounge chair by the pool in the sunshine for some time, clearing my mind and energy field.
I was quite relaxed when I returned to my room in the early afternoon and began to meditate.
While seated on the floor of my hotel room, I closed my eyes and immediately felt the presence of another.
I didn’t know who the spirit was, but he was emphatic that I follow him to the Temple of Seti.
My consciousness leapt from my body, through the top of my head, out the window, and towards the temple.
I followed the spirit into the temple, past the columns and painted scenes that I had seen just a few days before, and into the chapel of Osiris, at the rear of the temple.
My consciousness could see all the details of the temple, but they were more colorful, and somehow, animated with movement.
At the rear of the chapel, there are “false-doors” which are small, artistic gateways into the spiritual world, and I could see golden light pouring in through them.
I walked through the “false-door” and on the other side was a space made of golden light, with rainbows and flowers adorning a temple made of light.
Osiris was standing on the dais of the temple, looking at me.
He was elevated slightly above me, and had his arms crossed on his torso.
He had green skin, wore white clothes, and had piercing eyes that looked into my soul.
I was captivated, surprised, and humbled as I saw him.
Osiris never said anything, nor did he move, but the flowers and rainbows were dancing and spinning around him.
I did not know how much time passed before I was told it was time to leave the golden space.
I bowed my head to Osiris, and began to move back into the chapel room of the temple of Seti.
Suddenly, my consciousness flew back to my body at the hotel, and after collecting myself, I stepped out of my room and went to the pool to get fresh air and reflect.
The sun was about to set over the western horizon, and I watched it for a time as it fell in the sky, thinking.
